Factors affecting English performance between students residing in tourist and non-tourist areas

Living in a tourist area is frequently viewed as an advantage for students learning English it provides more opportunities to practice the language. The present study looked at performance of residing and non-tourist areas explored how they learned factors affecting their language performance. A comparative was conducted using concurrent mixed-method approach. data were collected through documents, tests, interviews analyzed quantitatively qualitatively examine differences determine main themes between respective groups. result indicates that two groups differed statistically terms school grades speaking test scores with large effect sizes (d = 3.26 d 1.28), respectively. Even though proficiency did not show significant difference (p .72), group outperformed all assessment types. revealed regardless different attributes sites where lived, similar English. both (1) strong motivation, (2) exposure songs, games, movies, social media, (3) family support.
